Course Name: ETHYLENE CARGO OPERATIONS (FOR DECK & ENGINE OFFICERS)
Entry Criteria:

All Deck and Engineer officers (i.e Master, C/O,2/O,3/O,J/O,C/E,2/E,3/E,4/E,E/O,G/E all with COC, GASCO and at least 3 months on tankers)

Course Description:

The purpose of the course is to assist maritime training institutes and their teaching staff in organizing and introducing new training courses or in enhancing, updating or supplementing existing training material where the quality and effectiveness of the training courses may thereby be improved. The endeavor is also to enhance the capabilities of shipboard personnel who sail on specialized carriers such as a gas tanker. It is not the intention of the course to compartmentalize the trainee’s way of thinking in terms of gas tanker operation. The idea is to make him / her aware of the specialization of operations specific to a gas tanker and sensitize him / her towards the situations that s/he will face on such a vessel. This course is for Deck and Engineer Officers on board gas tankers for the Operational and management level for the cargo handling and Equipment maintenance on board Gas tankers. The coverage of the course includes Tank Inspection Procedures, Using practise for IGC Code and CDI Vetting inspections deficiencies of Gas tankers. The course also includes Practical demonstration in workshop- covering safety and maintenance aspects of gas tanker equipment.

  • Introduction to Ethylene Carrier
  • Description of Nitrogen Generation plant
  • Safety systems and various Interlocks
  • Cargo operations – Voyage cycle
  • Ethylene Reliquefaction plant
  • Pumps / Heater / Vapourizer for Ethylene ships
  • Ethylene / LPG change of grade
  • Managing Emergency situations
